EXIT RENUMBERING

PROJECT HISTORY

In July 2026 CTDOT posted a press release regarding the upcoming sign replacement project along I-95 throughout the state. It would also include the renumbering of exit signs to milepost based exit numbers. Work is to start in 2028, but the CTDOT Exit Renumbering Project website map was updated with the proposed new numbers. With the current exit numbers closely matching the mileposts between the New York border and Branford, east of New Haven, some had speculated that numbers would not change between those locations, this turned out to be incorrect. Exits numbers have been changed through the whole length of I-95 when the current numbers differ from the highway milepost.

EXIT RENUMBERING SIGN ILLUSTRATIONS

While we wait for the official contract plans, I decided to use Sign Maker software to create approximations of the new exit number signs based on CTDOT's proposed numbers. I have not included those exits where the number will stay the same.

Current Exit 2:

Delavan Avenue to be Exit 1.

Current Exit 3:

Arch Street is to be Exit 2.

Current Exit 4:

Indian Field Road will be Exit 3.

No Changes Between Exits 5 and 17

Current Exit 18:

The Sherwood Island Connector is to be Exit 20.

Current Exit 19:

The Center Street Southport exit on I-95 North to be Exit 23.

The US 1 Southport exit on I-95 South to be Exit 23A.

Current Exit 20 (SB):

The Bronson Road exit on I-95 South will be Exit 23B.

Current Exit 21:

The Mill Plain Road exit will be Exit 24.

Current Exit 22:

The Round Hill Road exit on I-95 North will be Exit 25A.

The CT 135 exit on I-95 South will also be Exit 25A.

Current Exit 23:

The exit for US 1, Kings Highway, will be Exit 25B in both directions.

Current Exit 24:

The Black Rock Turnpike exit will be Exit 26.

Current Exit 25:

The I-95 North exit from Commerce Drive and State Street will be Exit 27.

While southbound Exit 27 will be for CT 130.

Current Exit 26:

The Wordin Avenue exit on I-95 North will be Exit 28A, and Exit 28 headed south.

Current Exit 27 (NB):

The Lafayette Blvd/Harbor Yard exit in Bridgeport on I-95 North will be Exit 28B.

Current Exit 27A:

The CT 25/CT 8 exit will be Exit 29A.

Current Exit 27B (SB):

The Transportation Center/Harbor Yard exit headed south is Exit 29B.

Current Exits 27C (SB):

The Lafayette Blvd/Downtown Bridgeport exit headed south will become Exit 29C.

Current Exit 28 (NB):

The CT 127 exit on I-95 North will be Exit 29B.

Current Exit 29:

The CT 130 exit is to be Exit 30.

Current Exit 30:

The CT 130 Exit on I-95 North will be Exit 31.

The same Exit 31 on I-95 South will be for Surf Avenue.

Current Exit 31:

The I-95 North exit for Honeyspot Road/Stratford Avenue is to be Exit 32A.

Current Exit 32:

The I-95 North exit for West Broad Street will be Exit 32B.

Exit 33 will not change.

Current Exit 34

The exit for US 1 in Milford is to become Exit 35A.

Current Exit 35

The exit for School House Drive will be Exit 35B.

Exit 36 will not change.

Current Exit 37

The I-95 North exit for High Street is to become Exit 37A.

Current Exit 38

The I-95 North exit for the Milford Parkway is to be Exit 37B.

While on I-95 South exit it will be Exit 37.

Exits 39 A/B, 40 and 41 will not change.

Current Exit 42

The exit for CT 162 is to be Exit 43.

Current Exit 43

The I-95 North exit for Campbell Avenue will be Exit 45.

While the I-95 South Exit 45 is to be for CT 122.

Current Exit 44

The exit for CT 10 / Ella Grasso Blvd. is to become Exit 46A.

Current Exit 46

The exit for Long Wharf Drive/Sargent Drive in New Haven will be Exit 46B.

Current Exit 47

The exit for MLK Blvd is to be Exit 47A.

Current Exit 48

The I-91 North exit will be Exit 47B.

Current Exit 50

The exit for Woodward Avenue is to become Exit 48.

Current Exit 51

The I-95 North exit for US 1 and East Haven will be Exit 49.

While the exit headed south is for Frontage Road and Lighthouse Point.

Current Exit 52 (SB)

The I-95 South exit for CT 100 will be Exit 50.

Current Exit 53

The Short Beach exit is to be Exit 52.

Current Exit 54

The Cedar Street exit in Branford will be Exit 53.

Exits 55 and 56 will not change, the last ones not to be changed headed north.

Current Exit 57

The US 1/Boston Post Road exit in Branford will be Exit 59.

Current Exit 58

The CT 77 exit in Guilford will become Exit 60.

Current Exit 59

The Goose Lane exit will now be Exit 61.

Current Exit 60 (SB)

The Mungertown Road exit on I-95 South is to be Exit 63.

Current Exit 61

The CT 79 exit in Madison will be Exit 64.

Current Exit 62

The Hammonasset State Park exit, and its brown sign, is to be Exit 66.

Current Exit 63

The CT 81 exit in Clinton will become Exit 68.

Current Exit 64

The CT 145 exit will be Exit 70.

Current Exit 65

The CT 153 exit is to be Exit 73.

Current Exit 66

The CT 166 exit will become Exit 74.

Current Exit 67

The CT 154 exit in Old Saybrook will be Exit 76.

Current Exit 68 (SB)

The US 1 exit on I-95 South is to be Exit 77.

Current Exit 69

The CT 9 North exit will now be Exit 78.

Current Exit 70

The US 1 and CT 156 exit on I-95 North is to be Exit 79.

The I-95 South Exit 79 will now be for CT 156 only.

Current Exit 71

The Four Mile River Road exit will become Exit 83.

Current Exit 72

The Rocky Neck State Park, another brown sign, will be Exit 84.

Current Exit 73

The Society Road exit is to be Exit 85.

Current Exit 74

The CT 161 exit will become Exit 87.

Current Exit 75

The US 1 Waterford exit on I-95 North will be Exit 88A.

While the US 1 exit on I-95 South will be Exit 88.

Current Exit 76

The I-395 North exit will be Exit 88B northbound only.

Current Exit 80 (SB)

The Oil Mill Road exit on I-95 South will now be Exit 89, no more skipping of exit numbers.

Current Exit 81

The Cross Road Exit will be Exit 90.

Current Exit 82

The CT 85 Exit is to be Exit 91.

Current Exit 82A (NB)

The Frontage Road Exit on I-95 North will be Exit 92.

Current Exit 83

The CT 32 Exit on I-95 North will be Exit 93.

On I-95 South it will become Exit 93A for the US 1/Frontage Road exit.

Current Exit 84 E/N/S (SB)

The CT 32 and New London Exits on I-95 South will be a simpler Exit 93B.

Current Exit 85 (NB)

The US 1 Exit on I-95 North on the other side of the bridge is to be Exit 94.

Current Exit 86

The CT 184 / Submarine Base Exit will be Exit 95.

Current Exit 87

The CT 349 Exit is to be Exit 96.

Current Exit 88

The CT 117 Exit is going to be Exit 97.

Current Exit 89

The Allyn Street Exit is to hit triple digits and be Exit 100.

Current Exit 90

The CT 27 Exit to Mystic is to be Exit 101.

Current Exit 91

The CT 234 Exit is to become Exit 104.

Current Exit 92

The CT 2/49 Exit to Mystic will be Exit 108.

Current Exit 93

The CT 27 Exit to Mystic is going to be Exit 111.
