I would like to thank all the creators of highway web sites, particularly those about North Carolina roadways, who have inspired me to start one of my own back in 2002. I would also like to thank the many contributors to the many blogs and newsgroups over the years whose own questions about Interstates 73 and 74 encouraged me to find out more about these highways. I also thank those who have provided suggestions on how to improve these pages, sent information or photo contributions, especially since I left North Carolina. Plus a special thanks to Adam Prince and Doug Kerr who have provided a home for my site at Gribblenation from March 2013 to December 2016 after I finished graduate school. Lastly, I'd like to thank my parents who, by giving me road maps during those long family trips, contributed to a life-long interest in highways and finding out where they go.
A note on sources: much of the information for this site was gathered on road trips from 1999 to 2012 on many places along the I-73 and I-74 corridors and the perusal of I-73/74 stories in local papers along the interstate corridors. Where I've supplemented my knowledge elsewhere, through news sources or highway web sites, I have tried to fully reference where the information was gathered. Where I do not have specific information or sources I have tried to make educated guesses, hopefully any gaps in information will be filled in over time (feel free to help in this regard). Since the fall of 2010 I have relocated to Massachusetts, and thus have more difficulty in seeing the corridors in person. I am thankful to those still in the area that take the time to updated me and send me information and photos. While I have taken two trips to North Carolina and plan to revisit the area some time in 2017, I would appreciate anyone who has traveled these roads since July 2012 and can forward new information or photos to me.
